On April 6, 2005, the Senate Appropriations Committee will vote on the FY 2005 Supplemental funding bill. At this point there is not a dime to help short-staffed VA facilities that are operating at a deficit. Senator Murray (D-WA) is planning to offer an amendment to increase funding for veterans’ health care by $2 billion for this year.

Act Now!

1) Call Senators on the Senate Appropriations Committee using the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 244-3121. Tell them you work at the VA. Tell them you are concerned that the budget is hurting care for veterans. Ask that they support the Murray Amendment to increase funding for the VA for Fy 2005. Tell them that veterans’ health care is part of the true cost of war.

2) Send a fax
