First New York Senators Clinton and Schumer spoke out,
Tuesday, congressional candidate Eric Massa is pushing to stop a
psych unit at the Canandaigua VA from closing.
Massa held a news conference Tuesday afternoon to express his
outrage over a plan to close the in-patient acute psychiatric
unit at the Canandaigua VA Hospital in late November. News 8
first broke the news of the closing last week. Massa, a retired
Navy commander, is calling on the VA to not only keep the unit
open but double it's size. He wrote a letter to the secretary of
Veterans Affairs.
"Today it is a rallying cry. Today we marshal our forces to get
this decision changed. Today I transmit a letter to the
secretary of the VA asking him to use his power to rescind this
decision," said Massa.
